Can you believe it’s almost the end of summer? We are busy preparing for all of our fall weddings and couldn’t help but think back on last year and one of our all time favorite autumn weddings. Liz and her mom contacted me to plan her big day, envisioning a garden theme that encapsulated all of the fall colors. I had so much fun designing and putting this together from start to finish, and it came out beautiful!
So how did we create the perfect fall garden wedding? It all came down to the details, from selecting the venue, to color palette, and a fall themed menu, it was all about curating the feeling you get when pumpkin spice season hits. Let’s go through the details that went into this beautiful wedding!
The Venue: What says fall more than an enchanted garden environment where you’re surrounded by big trees and leaves? Nothing! After touring through multiple venues, we decided on Eden Gardens in Santa Rosa Beach because it was a blank canvas for our vision. So what came after the venue?!
The Aesthetic: So much goes into the overall aesthetic of a wedding. We start all of our partial and full planning projects with a vision board. How do we want the guests to feel during and after the event? What is the overall tone for the day? From the florals to the rentals, we curated everything to match the fall vibes. We started with florals, which were one of the most important things to Liz. We knew that everything had to be moody fall colors featuring toffee roses [these roses were a must have in her bouquet and floral arrangements], champagnes and lots of greenery. Everything was going to be accented with wood textures [like the wood farmhouse tables] and hunter green linens, with a touch of gold to spice it all up. All of the details were really important to Liz and Zach, so we added little touches like rosemary sprigs to each plate to tie everything together. It’s these little details that look amazing in photos and what guests remember about the tablescape.
The Menu: Good bites was essential to Liz + Zach and I couldn’t think of anyone better to create a fall themed menu than Grits catering! Forist worked with us to create a beautiful menu inspired by fall’s seasonal ingredients for all of their guests to enjoy. Good comfort food just screams a cozy autumn environment! Think about a prosciutto roasted salad featuring butternut squash, bacon wrapped pork tenderloin with gouda grits, and charred brussel sprouts with a peach relish. These are just a few of the dishes we featured on the menu for their big day! All of the items on the menu were inspired by the feeling that fall comfort food gives you. Now I want to cozy up with a blanket and some gouda grits and brussels, despite it being 105 degrees outside today.
Live Painter: When Liz and I first met she expressed that one of her top priority items was having a live painter, and I knew instantly that Melissa Munger would be the perfect addition. With her classical and romantic vibes, it fit everything that she wanted! If you’ve never seen a live painter, you must check her out because she is not only incredibly talented but also incredibly genuine and kind. To see everyone’s reactions as she paints is truly an interactive and fun experience for both the couple and the guests. And at the end you receive a beautiful painting from your wedding day, a memory that will last a lifetime. It is such a unique way to incorporate live entertainment into your big day.
Photo: An autumn wedding calls for all those moody photo vibes, so we immediately reached out to Wild Soul Films– Cheree was amazing and perfect for their big day! She captured every detail for Liz and Zach and gave them endless photos to choose from to hang on their walls. Their beautiful editing style matched everything they were looking for and highlighted all of the gorgeous custom curated details that we had planned out. Just at the gallery below for proof!
As we get ready for all of our autumn weddings, we love looking back to Liz and Zach’s big day for inspiration! Pumpkin spice season starts when every coffee shop and grocery store begins rolling out the flavor profile, but what does that season bring with it?! It transforms the emotions from those of the summer hustle, bustle, and play to settling down with a cozy blanket, a flannel, and a warm cider. Those feelings of home, nourishment, and a warmer color palette are everything we aimed to capture in Liz and Zach’s wedding and we are so in love with the outcome! A gold standard for autumn wedding vibes!
