Let’s be honest, planning a wedding is like juggling champagne flutes on a unicycle. There are a lot of moving pieces, and no matter how organized you are (or how Type A your planner might be — hi, that’s me!), there are always those little details that can sneak past even the most buttoned-up timeline.
Over the years, we’ve seen it all, from missing marriage licenses to barefoot brides at the reception because the heels gave up the fight by hour two. So today, we’re sharing a list of the most commonly forgotten wedding day essentials and how to make sure you don’t fall into the same trap.
Yes, your wedding heels are stunning. No, your feet will not survive 10+ hours in them. Pack a backup pair — think cute flats, sandals, or sparkly sneakers that are dance-floor approved. Bonus points if they still look good for photos! Happy feet, happy bride.
Wedding day adrenaline is real — and so is forgetting to eat. Between hair and makeup, photos, and greeting guests, it’s easy to realize it’s 5 PM and you’ve only had a mimosa. Pack some light snacks (protein bars, fruit, trail mix) and a bottle of water. Staying hydrated and fed will keep you glowing — and help avoid that dreaded mid-day headache.
It might seem obvious, but trust us — it’s one of the most frequently forgotten items. Assign someone you trust (your planner, Maid of Honor, or Dad) to bring it to the ceremony and hand it to the officiant. Without it, you can’t legally seal the deal!
Even if you plan to stay off your phone (which we love!), you’ll still want it juiced up for late-night Uber calls, quick texts, or sweet guest messages. A portable charger is your best friend here.
Plastic hangers in your getting-ready photos? Not the vibe. Bring a pretty wooden or custom hanger for your gown — and a few extras for bridesmaid dresses if you want those Pinterest-worthy detail shots. Small touch, big impact.
We swear by a well-stocked wedding day emergency kit. Ours usually includes fashion tape, stain remover, a sewing kit, Advil, blotting papers, deodorant, tampons, breath mints, and bobby pins — lots of them! Hand this to your planner or a bridesmaid to keep close all day.
Photographers love to style detail shots with your paper goods — but so many couples forget an extra set. Pack one complete set (with the envelope and stamps!) in a labeled folder and hand it to your photographer or planner at the start of the day.
If you’ve written personal vows or a speech, bring a printed copy. We don’t recommend relying on your phone — dead battery, shaky hands, or screen glare can ruin the moment. Printed vows feel more special, and you’ll love keeping them as a memento.
Perfume might not be the first thing on your list, but it adds such a beautiful layer. Choose a scent that feels like you and wear it for the first time on your wedding day. Every time you smell it afterward, you’ll be right back in that moment — and yes, it looks gorgeous in your detail photos too.
If you’re planning to tip your vendors (always appreciated!), prep labeled envelopes in advance with cash or checks. Assign someone you trust to hand them out. It’s one more task off your plate and makes sure your dream team feels the love.
